The Capacitor Discharge Ignition or CDI unit helps deliver
optimal spark to the spark plug in order to increase
burn rate and allow for the proper combustion within the cylinder.
The CDI on a 4-stroke engine is slightly different than
the 2-stroke mainly because the magneto/stator is contained
within the CDI unit.
The 4-stroke CDI must have the air gap checked
between the Flywheel Magneto
and the CDI unit to make sure that there is a .017 in
clearance between the two.

procedures to get the proper gap.
